Studies of synchronization in non-linear dynamical systems and of the physics of long-range interacting statistical systems have been pursued in parallel, albeit with not much overlap, by the communities of dynamical and statistical physicists.  In recent years, it has become increasingly evident that much of the issues and the techniques addressed and developed in one community could prove to be particularly useful to the other community, a reason being that both the communities eventually study the emergence and stability of collective modes in the dynamics of many-body complex systems. Examples include the kinetic theory of long-range interacting systems couched in the form of the Vlasov and the Lenard-Balescu equation, the dynamical reduction to low-dimensional systems in the form of the Ott-Antonsen ansatz for synchronizing systems.

This workshop aims to bring together statistical physicists and dynamical physicists to discuss common aspects of long-range and synchronizing systems, addressing both fundamental techniques (large deviations theory, kinetic theory, dimensional reduction, equilibrium and nonequilibrium statistical physical aspects, etc) and applications (networks, light-matter interactions, etc).  There is no registration fee.
